This is Trịnh Lam's first solo album. Released by Thuy Nga only 6 months since he first appreared in Paris By Night 86 as one of the top 12 contestents. CD TẠI SAO was on of the top-selling album in 2007.

I've listened to this CD several times over the past week. And I must say I am very impressed with Trịnh Lam's vocal abilities. Right from the very first time I heard him perform on the live webcast on February 8, 2007, Trịnh Lam caught my attention. I recently rewatched his performances from the Talent Show DVDs and I must say you can see in his eyes the emotions and gratitude as his dreams were coming true right in front of him.

All of the excitement of competition has finally culminated in the release of this CD - TẠI SAO. And I must say that all this couldn't happen to a nicer individual. The album contains 12 songs, 9 of which are written by Trịnh Lam himself. I'd like to think of it as a diary in the form of music. Entering into this business at the age of 32, we are all immediately drawn to his maturity. He knows what types of songs goes well with his voice. On top of that, he's performing a majority of self-written songs, therefore we immediately have an extra added dimension of emotions. I thoroughly enjoy this CD because it not only has entertainment value, it all allows you to reflect on love and live. Listen carefully to the soothing and calming melody accompanied by the reflective lyrics of the composer.

It's been 6 months now since the world was first officially introduced to Trịnh Lam. His life has certainly changed dramatically in the past few months, but I'd like to think that the Vietnamese music landscape has a blooming flower on the horizons as well. I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more from the talented young composer/singer. However, the only way to ensure this is to purchase original copies!! People work too hard to get a product like this on the shelves, please do not steal from them.
